Most experts agree that vision is our most dominant sense. Biosense Webster, Inc. has a special appreciation for the importance of sight – the company has been providing innovative technological solutions that allow electrophysiologists (EPs) the ability to quickly discover, accurately interpret, and effectively treat heart rhythm disorders. This month, the company is introducing the CARTO VIZIGO™ Bi-directional Guiding Sheath, which allows EPs to visualize their sheath on the CARTO® System map while they are working and ablating inside the chambers of a beating heart. To celebrate this advancement and in an effort to extend vision beyond their EP customer base, the company launched the #UnitedbyVision campaign. Through this campaign, Biosense Webster, Inc. will make a charitable donation to the Himalayan Cataract Project (, a non-profit organization that provides vision correction procedures for those in need.

Did you know that more than 39 million people worldwide suffer from unnecessary blindness?1 More than half are due to cataract and these millions of needlessly-blind cataract patients still await care, most of them with no place to turn. is working to change this by delivering life-changing eye care to underserved populations that would otherwise go without care. They are on a mission to eradicate preventable and curable blindness in some of the hardest-to-reach locations by providing cataract surgeries across South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

“Our team is honored to provide the gift of vision to those in need with our #UnitedbyVision campaign,” said Uri Yaron, Worldwide President of Biosense Webster. “We’ve been in the business of improving the lives of people living with AFib, and for the first time ever we are broadening the health impact we make to include vision via our partnership with”

About AFib and Cardiac Ablation

Atrial fibrillation (also called AFib or AF) is a quivering or irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) that can lead to blood clots, stroke, heart failure and other heart-related complications. About 5.5 million Americans are living with AFib.2 Cardiac ablation, also referred to as catheter ablation, is a nonsurgical treatment for cardiac arrhythmia that neutralizes the abnormal electrical activity that causes your irregular heartbeat. Most patients who undergo cardiac ablation experience a long-term reduction in the number of episodes of arrhythmia and the severity of symptoms. A high percentage achieve a permanent return to normal heart rhythm.

CARTO VIZIGO™ is the first commercially available sheath that can be visualized on a mapping system. Physicians can now verify the true orientation of the steerable sheath in the cardiac chamber on a CARTO® System map during a procedure without depending solely on fluoroscopy, reducing the physical burden of lead on themselves and their teams. The CARTO VIZIGO™ Bi-Directional Guiding Sheath puts electrophysiologists in command for the ultimate CARTO® System experience, with confidence in procedures with sheath visualization, efficiency and optimized performance.
