"I Should Have Had It Done Earlier"
I could not do my regular exercise and competitions. I work out a few times a week and I like to participate in sprint triathlons, (swim 1/2 mile; bike 12 mile; run 5K). My right hip had deteriorated so much that I had a lot of pain when running and biking. The doctor told me I had arthritis due to a cam deformity that had developed on my right side hip. I tried the shots in the hip and pain pills, but the pain was not going to get any better. It was limiting my activities. I talked with some other people who had the procedure and they were completely back to their normal activities. They said recovery was relatively quick and they were very positive on Dr. Ciotola. I did my own research on the internet and decided the anterior approach was the preferred procedure for me.
I am back to all my normal activities. The hip pain is now a distant memory. I don't even think about it very often. I was in the hospital one night. My rehab was to walk around as much as possible. I did a 5k (run/walk) 8 weeks after the surgery. If you know the hip pain is just going to get worse, why wait to see your doctor? I probably should have had it done earlier.
