"I've Lost About 30 Pounds!"

Life before joint replacement surgery was very painful and difficult to sleep. I had no energy due to fighting off pain on a daily basis.

Eventually I started to become depressed over the lack of quality in my life, which was my turning point in getting surgery.

I am now back to doing most of the things I did before multiple joint replacement surgery. The last replacement I had was my shoulder, and 11 months later I was walking 18 holes of golf at least weekly and playing pickleball 3-4 times a week. I also work out in the gym 4-5 times a week for a couple of hours including weight training. I have lost about 30 pounds! I have also been sleeping well now that I have had surgery.

Some advice I would give others is to lose weight if you have to before surgery. Try to be in the best physical condition as possible. Make sure you do all of your rehab/therapy as well even though it will be painful. Stick to your rehab, so that you can get the full benefits of the joint replacement and have support from your friends and family to help you. Also, don't wait too long to go see your doctor. If you can't sleep because of the pain, it's probably time to see your doctor.
