"I Was On My Feet Most of the Day"
As a teacher, I was on my feet most of the day, causing my knee to be sore, and swell. But I also enjoy walking, so all of these activities had to be limited.
The moment I knew I needed to do surgery was when the knee was unstable and would hyper extend, or would give way, which would result in a fall. I also experienced little or no relief from joint pain, even with medicine.
I developed a blood clot within days of having surgery, which resulted in almost 8 months of physical therapy. Even now, one year after surgery, the knee continues to swell at times. I sometimes wear a knee brace to try to control the swelling and to give the knee stability.
Consider your options, and proceed with talking to your doctor about surgery when you are at the point that you cannot continue to function in life as you believe you need to do.
