Improving Care of Rib Fracture Patients

The MatrixRIB Care Program is an advanced set of tools and resources including cases studies, care pathways, and patient education materials that help optimize the care of rib fracture patients and address the Triple Aim goals of improved outcomes, increased patient satisfaction, and reduced costs.

Why rib fixation?

Despite the measurable clinical and economic impact of rib fractures, current treatment of the majority of patients consists of little more than supportive treatment including pain control, rest and mechanical ventilation1,2,3 and the mortality and short term morbidity of this entity have not appreciably improved during the last four decades3,4. The relatively recent availability of fixation technology specifically tailored to rib fixation presents a potential option toward a more effective approach to managing rib fracture.
